The list of honorees for the much-anticipated African Diaspora Awards has been announced, with eight outstanding individuals making the cut for the top categories.
The African Diaspora Awards, now in its sixth year and widely referred to as ADA, is a gala event held in New York, which celebrates people who have made an impact in bettering the lives of African diaspora in the United States and back home in Africa. Past honorees include African diaspora leaders, artists, activists, businesspeople and entrepreneurs. The awards recognize individuals who have excelled in a multitude of fields. “Transfast believes it just as important to celebrate the community’s accomplishments as it is to offer great value,” says Jay Vix, Director of Strategic Partnerships.
This year’s event, to be held on Saturday, December 3, will be sponsored by Transfast and Brussels Airlines, and is set to be the most competitive yet, if the released names of nominees are any indication.
The ADA show, an initiative of the Applause Africa, celebrates innovation, enterprise and creativity amongst Africans in the diaspora aged between 22 and 45 years.

This year’s nominees include:
Jessica O. Matthews – Founder & CEO UNCHARTED PLAY
Loza Maleombho – Creative Director & Owner, Loza Maleombho
Luvvie Ajayi – Author, Speaker & Digital Strategist
Mamadou Samba – Director, Office on African Affairs
Georgie Badiel – Miss Africa, Model & Author
Ato Essandoh – American Television & Film Actor
Diene Keita – Representative at UNFPA DRC
Nchimunya Wulf – Executive Director 4PLUSFOUNDATION
Since its inception in 2010, ADA has seen more than 60 individuals emerge winners in the various categories from a list of more than 1,550 nominees.
The top categories, which are highly sought-after, include Person of the Year, Entrepreneur or the Year, and Advocate of the Year, to name a few. Winners are chosen by a panel of distinguished individuals from various industries.
This year’s event is set to attract more than 500 attendees, and tickets are already on sale.
Transfast, a mobile money transfer company with its presence in more than 120 countries across the world, welcomed Brussels Airlines of Belgium as one of the returning main sponsors of this year’s ADA edition.
