Nigeria’s young comedienne Emmanuella Samuel has been nominated for a category in the New African Woman Awards.
At only six years old, she would be the youngest individual to be honored with the award, only in its second edition, if she manages to grab the laurels from the eight other ladies who’ve been nominated in her category.
However, the category she’s been nominated in, New African Woman on the Rise, is apt, as the comedienne has experienced a meteoric rise to YouTube stardom by featuring as the lead character in the eponymous Emmanuella series of the Mark Angel Comedy channel.
And she only started acting in 2015, when she was just 5.
The YouTube channel now has more than 100 skits, and her efforts have been recognized.
Last year, she was feted with an award offered by Google, which recognized her channel as the Top Subscribed Creator channel in Nigeria, and this was shortly followed by two awards at a ceremony in Sydney, Australia.
In Sydney, the Afro-Australia Music and Music Awards, bestowed upon her the Princess of Comedy, and Best New Comedienne.
As with the 67 other ladies nominated in various categories for the New African Woman Award, just making the nomination is an honor unto itself, as the 68 were chosen from a pool of over two thousand nominees.
